My name is Stuart Leel and I’m a graphic designer/creative thinker based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
I studied Visual Communication at North East Scotland College as a mature student in 2014-2016. My time at the college gave me the chance to develop my software skills and mature my design style. I was delighted to win the award for ‘Best Work On Wall’ at my end of year show which led me onto a work experience opportunity with Hampton Associates.
Once completing my HND I worked as a multimedia developer at Mintra Group on a temporary contract through the end of 2016 until the start of 2017. Whilst at Mintra I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Captivate to meet graphic design briefs and create animated safety videos for a wide variety of clients.
Throughout 2018 I took part in some valuable work experience working with the guys at Form Digital. My time in their studio was spent developing logo concepts, discussing an upcoming print brief and generally soaking up as much information as possible.
For the past year I have been working as a Graphic Designer at Arjowiggins Creative Papers. My role at the paper mill includes general poster designs, creating signage, various printing jobs and designing newsletters. Another challenging yet interesting task I undertake is simplifying client logos so they can be made into watermarks on paper.
When I’m not at my computer my favourite pastime is riding my bike. I took my love for bikes and my passion to create to the next level when I started a printed magazine called Shredder MTB Zine a few years ago. Whilst the publication is a passion project which I do for fun, working on Shredder has helped me with a wide range of skills from becoming more efficient with the Adobe Creative suite, social media marketing, sending projects to print and everything in-between.
Between Shredder, freelance projects and working as a Graphic Designer at various practices, I have built up a varied portfolio of work that I have become proud of. If you would like to see more examples of a specific area of work please get in touch. I’m always looking to take on new challenges or collaborate with likeminded people, so please don’t hesitate to give me a shout if you have something in mind.
